Pierre and Pierre, father & son, have been fishermen in La Ciotat for 8 generations. They sold their catch directly in the city center until 2013.
WHY DID YOU SET INTO THIS HALL?
Pierre fils: Because of competition from hypermarkets, which have killed the businesses in the historic center of La Ciotat, we were forced to move to Le Pescadou, but also to better develop.
WHAT IS EVERYONE’S ROLE?
Pierre père: We leave together at 5 a.m. on our trawler and it is Pierre, my son who manages the fish market. DO YOU LEAVE EVERY DAY? Pierre fils: No from Monday to Friday, fishing being prohibited on weekends.
HOW MANY ARE YOU IN THE FISH SHOP?
Pierre fils: There were six of us at the start, there are currently ten of us selling our fishing
WHAT MAKES YOU SET OUT?
Pierre père: We sell our catch directly from the trawler to the customers' basket, without intermediaries.
AND WHAT IS THE BENEFIT FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS?
Pierre père: We control our prices and above all guarantee exceptional freshness.
YOUR FAVORITE PLACE FOR AN APERITOR?
Pierre fils: Just in front of Pescadou there is a wine shop with a few tables.
WHEN ARE YOU PLANNING TO RETIRE?
Pierre père: Never, I will fish until the end... Comments collected by Hervé Matras Source of article:
